Weather

The weather in the state of Oklahoma is very unpredictable.  The most common times for severe weather usually occur during the months of April through July.  Oklahoma is located in the center of what is called "Tornado Alley".  In the Oklahoma City area, there are on average 15 or more tornadoes reported every year.  Violent storms are what produce tornadoes.

To register your storm shelter, please email the Piedmont Police Department or call 373-1334. Registration forms are available at the Police Department.

There are four civil defense sirens located in Piedmont.  Eventually the city hopes to purchase more to place strategically throughout the city.  The current locations are:

Million Gallon Tank by Piedmont High School

One fourth of a mile north of 164th on Mustang Road

The Emergency Operations Center by Jiffy Trip

206th and Piedmont Road at Fire Station No. 2

There is only one audible signal that the sirens make.  It is one long, continuous whistle which indicates a tornado warning has been issued.  Generally, the sirens are tested on the first Saturday of the month at noon.
